POSITION SUMMARY

The Trade Compliance Manager EMEA is responsible for ensuring that all trade regulations of the countries in the European region are understood and documented to allow Flash Global and its subcontractors to perform all imports and exports in compliance with the laws of the countries that have jurisdiction.

In this capacity, the ability to understand and clearly communicate company trade compliance policies and the importance of import/export regulatory compliance is critical.

While you are based in the Czech Republic, because this role supports a U.S.-based company serving U.S. high-tech manufacturers, success requires the ability to ensure that repairs, returns, service spare parts and appliances, technical data, and software move in compliance with multiple overlapping export control regimes.

Given the scope and complexity of this role, significant experience with U.S. EAR, including de minimis and FDP rules, and EU dual-use controls is required. Candidates must also have experience with high-tech products, including telecom, networking, semiconductors, and advanced computing, service logistics operations involving repairs, RMAs, and spare parts, customer-facing compliance consulting, multi-country EMEA responsibilities, and trade compliance systems.

The applicant selected for this position will report to the Global Trade Compliance Director and be based in the Czech Republic, working remotely from his/her residence. Up to 10% travel to Flash facilities and customer sites may be needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Handle the harmonized tariff classifications and export control classification numbers of multiple companies’ products across multiple countries.
• Collaborate with other members of the trade compliance team to help determine, maintain and adjust the right rules needed in the Trade Compliance Management system.
• Manage received product information including product classifications, data sheets, test reports, product certification, and/or export/import licenses required for international transactions.
• Provide procedural guidance to global operations across regions and assist personnel in resolving import/export related issues.
• Collaborate with other departments to monitor adherence to local regulations and record retention requirements.
• Randomly audit import and export clearance related documents.
• Identify compliance issues and red flags when applicable.
• Develop and execute practical solutions and provide feedback to Global Trade Compliance Management to minimize risk and support Flash’s business objectives.
• Be able to lead consultative conversations with customers who need support and education around trade compliance topics.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Extensive knowledge of U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), including export, re-export and transfer rules, ECCN classification, export authorizations, de minimis and foreign direct product rules, and end-use and end-user controls.
• Extensive knowledge of the EU Dual-Use Regulation and relevant national laws, including technology, software, and encryption controls.
• Significant trade compliance experience in a high-tech or service logistics environment involving repairs, RMAs, and spare parts.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements for advanced computing and semiconductor products. Experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, and data protection is a plus.
• Experience providing customer-facing compliance guidance across multiple EMEA countries.
• Knowledge of global customs practices, trade restrictions, FCPA, anti-boycott legislation, and Incoterms 2020.
• Experience developing Corporate Work Instructions and using Trade Compliance Management Systems.
• Excellent English communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex and conflicting priorities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related discipline or extensive experience in the trade compliance sector as described above.
