The Elementary Educational Assistant main role is to provide individual and group support aligned with students' developmental needs and curriculum goals for students aged 3–11 under the supervision of a lead teacher. Additionally, the Educational Assistant is responsible for preparing instructional materials and managing classroom resources, while ensuring student safety during lunch and recess duties in accordance with school regulations

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead, facilitate and assess small group of students under the supervision of a lead teacher
• Reinforce and support instruction to individuals or small groups of students
• Regularly communicate and report progress regarding student performance and behavior to teacher
• Assist students’ learning and social-emotional development by providing proper examples, emotional support, caring attitude, support children in conflict resolution and general guidance
• Ensure the health and safety for students by following all health and safety rules
• Assume responsibilities for the classroom in case of teacher’s absence
• Prepare materials for classroom and instructional use
• Perform a variety of clerical duties, such as marking student work, recording grades, taking roll and maintaining records and files
• Provide support to the classroom teacher by operating various educational tools / devices as needed, distribute and collect papers and supplies, confer with teachers concerning programs and materials to meet students’ needs
• Set-up work areas, displays and exhibits. Conduct general clean-up of classroom
• Perform lunch, recess and before school care duties
• Participate in faculty meetings and professional development as required by the supervisors
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required by the teacher

Knowledge, skills and dispositions required

• Fluent in English (mother tongue proficiency preferred)
• Passion, commitment and enthusiasm for working with children ages 3-11
• Experience working with children is required (e.g. teacher, camp counselor, nanny)
• Understanding, patience and caring attitude toward children
• Knowledge of child development and guidance, general needs and behavior of children, methods and techniques of assisting in instruction
• Time management and ability to prioritize
• Knowledge of basic subjects taught in schools, including math, language and reading
• Knowledge of safe practices in classroom and playground activities
• Desire and willingness to learn
• Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative environment
• Open and honest communication, ability to support the assigned teacher’s style of classroom management
• International and/or multi-cultural experience (preferred)
• Self-driven & proactive attitude
• Reliability

Experience and education required

• Experience working with children required ( e.g. teacher, camp counselor, nanny).
• University degree and / or teaching qualification preferred.
• Certification of English language proficiency preferred.
• Any relevant teaching qualifications are an advantage.
