Would you like to take ownership of statutory accounting for the Czech and Slovak entities while working in an international environment where you can use English every day?

At Alcon, we are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant / Accounting & Tax Specialist who is confident in Czech statutory accounting and would like to broaden their expertise across Slovakia, tax, IFRS and statutory reporting.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys combining hands-on accounting expertise with ownership, cooperation with auditors and advisors, and interaction with regional and international Finance teams.

What will you be responsible for?
You will take ownership of statutory accounting and related tax activities for our Czech and Slovak entities, working closely with Finance colleagues, Shared Service teams, external auditors and tax advisors.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Responsibility for Czech and Slovak statutory accounting and reporting
• Preparation of statutory adjustments and support for monthly, quarterly and year-end closing
• Preparation of statutory financial statements
• Coordination and ownership of statutory audits
• Corporate income tax and deferred tax accounting
• VAT and other statutory tax compliance activities
• Review of balance sheet reconciliations and selected P&L accounts
• Ensuring compliance with local GAAP, IFRS and local tax requirements
• Cooperation with external auditors and tax advisors
• Providing accounting and tax guidance to Finance and business stakeholders
• Monitoring changes in accounting and tax legislation
• Identifying opportunities to simplify and improve accounting processes
• What are we looking for?
• We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who is comfortable taking ownership and working independently, but also enjoys being part of an international Finance organization.

You will be a great fit if you have:

• Strong experience in financial/statutory accounting, ideally in a senior accountant, chief accountant or similar role
• Very good knowledge of Czech accounting standards and local tax requirements
• Experience with statutory financial statements and external audits
• Good understanding of corporate income tax and VAT
• Knowledge of IFRS or experience from an international company
• Experience with ERP systems; SAP is an advantage
• Good Excel skills
• English at a level that allows you to work comfortably in an international environment
• Czech language proficiency
• Experience with Slovak accounting and tax requirements is a strong advantage. However, if your main expertise is Czech accounting and you are motivated to expand your knowledge to Slovakia, we would also be happy to hear from you.
