Investment Analyst Junior – Public Equities & M&A

Location: Prague
Reports to: Investment Directors

Role summary

We seek an Investment Analyst (2-4 years) to support both a concentrated public equities portfolio and private investment / M&A opportunities. Work will shift between the two areas as priorities change.

Working with senior leadership, you will research companies, model valuation and returns, prepare investment committee recommendations, support transaction execution, and monitor investments.

Key responsibilities

1. Public Equities

• Generate differentiated, high-conviction ideas through fundamental research across sectors and geographies; maintain an active idea pipeline and reassess positions as fundamentals evolve.
• Build rigorous financial models (DCF, comps, scenario analysis) to underwrite valuation, downside, and catalysts.
• Produce concise, decision-oriented investment memos articulating thesis, risks, and expected returns and investment committee materials.
• Support portfolio construction and rebalancing through position sizing, exposure analysis (concentration, sector, geography, factor, liquidity), stress tests, and downside scenarios.
• Conduct drawdown reviews and post-mortems to refine process and improve risk discipline.
• Track earnings, news flow, and management commentary; flag thesis deviations and recommend action.
• Maintain clean portfolio analytics, performance attribution, and risk reporting infrastructure.

1. Private Investments & M&A

• Screen acquisition and minority investment opportunities; assess markets, business models, historical performance, and value drivers.
• Build operating and transaction models with DCF, trading and deal comps, equity bridges, returns, and downside cases.
• Prepare valuation analyses, initial and binding offers, and investment committee materials covering deal structure, risks, and returns.
• Coordinate due diligence with internal teams and external advisers; translate financial, commercial, legal, and tax findings into pricing and deal protections.
• Support deal execution, including process coordination, review of commercial SPA/SHA terms, financing analysis, and closing preparation.
• Track private investments against the investment case and support portfolio company reviews and follow-on decisions.

Requirements

Experience:

• 2-4 years in investment banking / M&A, private equity, public equities investing, equity research, or asset management, with interest in both listed and private investments.
• Direct exposure to financial modeling and company valuation; transaction execution or due diligence experience is an advantage.
• Demonstrated interest in investing, sound commercial judgment, and willingness to switch between public equities and M&A assignments as priorities change.

Skills:

• Strong financial modeling and accounting fluency.
• Ability to assess business quality, competitive dynamics, and capital allocation.
• Ability to evaluate deal structure, enterprise-to-equity value bridges, financing, returns, and due diligence findings.
• Clear, structured communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
• High analytical rigor and attention to detail.

· Tools: Excel/Google Sheets, Capital IQ/Bloomberg/FactSet/Refinitiv, Python/R or equivalent for data analysis (nice to have).

· Attributes: Intellectually curious and independent thinker with high integrity, an owner’s mindset, and disciplined long-term judgment, comfortable operating in a lean, high-accountability environment.
