Pracovní nabídka
CEA CAPA Prague is searching for individuals to serve as Emergency Phone Holders. This is an on-call position during nights and weekends. It is not a full-time position on the CEA CAPA Prague staff, although the EP Holders will be connected to the staff team. Each EP Holder would have about 4-8 weekdays and 3-6 weekend days per month on average, usually in shifts of one week and weekend at a time per month. Scheduling is done three months ahead of time.
Compensation
Compensation for the position is through a DPP agreement, and EP Holders are paid a flat rate for each day they hold the EP. That rate is 700 CZK gross for a weekday night and 1000 CZK gross for a weekend day and night. EP Holders are expected to attend some meetings and training as well; these meetings are compensated separately.
Overview
CEA CAPA provides an Emergency Phone (EP) number for its students, in case they need urgent assistance outside of office hours (5 pm to 9 am and on weekends/holidays). Qualified CEA Prague staff must hold the EP at all times when there are students on site. Typical issues to be dealt with when holding the EP include communicating with landlords about urgent housing problems, advising students in the case that they need medical help, accompanying students to the hospital (in serious cases), and any crime- related emergencies. Students do not call the EP very often, and many of the calls are easy to handle, but the EP Holder needs to be on-call and ready for the infrequent true emergency cases.
This position requires an individual who can handle stressful situations while remaining calm and clear-headed. EP Holders receive onboarding training and continual refresher training in order to perform duties effectively. EP Holders have the support of CEA CAPA permanent, full-time staff if a situation is too difficult to handle independently. The EP Holder will also be connected to the full-time office staff at CEA CAPA Prague in order to foster a team spirit, improve communications, and to learn more about our programming and our students overall.
When the EP Holder has the EP, the EP Holder must be constantly accessible by phone and be able to respond quickly in person to situations happening in the center of Prague during the entire shift. This position requires the ability to speak Czech/Slovak and English fluently.
The EP Holder provides an important service for CEA CAPA students. By carrying out this duty effectively, the EP Holder contributes to the students’ educational experience while they are studying abroad in Prague as well as more basically helping out people in need.
The EP Holder must be:
