The Accounting Plant Controller is responsible for leading all financial accounting, cost control, and compliance activities within the manufacturing plant. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, drives cost transparency, supports operational decision‑making, and partners closely with plant leadership to optimize performance. The Plant Controller leads the site’s month‑end close, inventory accounting, standard costing, and internal controls to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Lead monthly, quarterly, and year‑end closing for the plant, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Prepare and analyze plant financial statements, variance reports, and performance dashboards.
Ensure proper accounting treatment under US GAAP / IFRS / local statutory requirements.
Reconcile key balance sheet accounts (inventory, accruals, fixed assets, etc.).
Costing & Inventory Control
Own the standard cost process, including annual cost roll‑ups and updates.
Monitor manufacturing variances (PPV, labor, overhead, scrap, absorption) and provide insights to operations.
Ensure proper valuation and reporting of inventory, including cycle count programs and physical inventory.
Partner with supply chain teams to improve inventory accuracy and reduce obsolescence.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the plant annual budget, long-range plan, and rolling forecasts.
Develop cost‑center budgets and monitor performance against targets.
Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions (e.g., capacity planning, make-or-buy, CapEx).
Business Partnership & Operational Support
Act as the financial strategic partner to the Plant Manager and operations leadership.
Provide actionable insights to improve efficiency, productivity, and cost structure.
Support continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN, Six Sigma, automation).
Evaluate business cases for capital investments and track project performance.
Compliance, Controls & Audit
Maintain strong internal controls in accordance with SOX and corporate policies.
Ensure compliance with all financial, tax, and legal requirements.
Coordinate internal and external audits for the plant.
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop the plant finance team (cost accountants, analysts).
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA/CMA preferred.
7–10+ years of finance/accounting experience, with at least 3 years in manufacturing or plant environment.
Experience with standard cost accounting and inventory management required.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of US GAAP / IFRS and cost accounting principles.
Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with SAP ERP systems highly preferred.
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Ability to partner effectively with operations and influence cross‑functional teams.
High integrity and strong attention to detail.
