Job Overview:
The Student Affairs and Program Coordinator is responsible for promoting students’ intercultural learning and development at NC State Prague. This staff member should possess the knowledge, skills, emotional awareness, and maturity to work with a diverse student population and multi-cultural team of colleagues. High levels of competence are expected in the performance of his or her duties and responsibilities.

About NC State European Center in Prague (NC State Prague):
The NC State European Center in Prague is NC State’s only permanent international facility and welcomes students from all academic disciplines from across the University. Approximately 450 NC State students study abroad at NC State Prague every year, with programs offered during the fall, spring, or summer semesters. Students are taught by Czech faculty that are credentialed by the home department in Raleigh, NC. The NC State Prague team consists of professional staff in both Raleigh, USA and Prague, in addition to the 25-30 professors.
I. Intercultural Development
The primary responsibility of this position is to develop and implement structured and intentional programming that encourages cross-cultural engagement that leads to a more in-depth development among students.
● Develop and assess intercultural student learning outcomes
● Develop, organize and participate in social events (open houses, concerts, dinners/receptions, etc.), ensuring students receive optimum exposure to and integration with host culture
● Promote and develop real links between students and the host student community
● Advise and assist students in their integration into the local community
● Act as a general information resource to students, e.g. holidays, community alerts, reminders of deadlines, information regarding extra-curricular events, opening times, etc.
● Revise the student part of the website each semester.
● Contribute to the Pre-Departure Conference each semester
● Maintain resources about the host city, important addresses, walking tours, tourist information, etc.
II. Student Care and Emergency Response
● Maintain daily contact with students to advise, assist, and generally mentor them through the study abroad process
● Maintain comprehensive, accessible, and confidential student records relative to student affairs
● Monitor student welfare; advise, council, and arbitrate as needed
● Serve as the 24-hour on-call emergency response representative at least once a week every month while programs are running
III. Orientation
The Student Affairs and Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the arrival and orientation process for each new term and/or program arrivals. In collaboration with colleagues, the coordinator will execute the following tasks to include (but not limited to):
● Develop student handbook
● Compile enrollment data; supervise student files and student information database.
● Compile arrival information and prepare instructions for early/late arrivals
● Compile and prepare welcome packets
● Prepare arrival day and on-site orientation
● Provide directions for students to find their own transportation
● Plan schedules and make all necessary reservations regarding special events for arrival and orientation week
● Prepare the Center for student arrival
● Be responsible for collecting phone numbers and completing and updating student records and communicating updates to relevant staff
● Lead/accompany walking tours of the neighborhood around the accommodation and NC State Prague
IV. Field Trips, Excursions, & Events
The coordinator is responsible for implementing excursions tied to intercultural student learning outcomes to enhance the overall study abroad experience.
● Develop, organize and participate in field trips and excursions, coordinating transportation, reservations, advance bookings, tour guides, meals
● Compile participants’ list, pre-departure information, including marketing
● Prepare all travel itineraries
● Prepare field trip program evaluation
● Responsible for the safety and conduct of students attending the trip
● Assist in the organization and execution of co-curricular events
V. Administrative
● Assist with the organization of course and program evaluations at the end of every semester
● Compile expense reports for field study trips per semester and all class-related and led field study
● Keep up-to-date students’ information lists and prepare documents necessary for students’ visa applications
● Prepare tasks and cooperate with part-time Dorm Mates
● Complete other duties as assigned
Required Skills:
● Two-years previous office experience
● Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills
● Fluency in English and Czech
● Excellent administrative and problem-solving abilities
● Commitment to international education, intercultural issues, and a dedication to fostering student learning and intercultural competence
● Student-centered philosophy
● Experience with and enthusiasm to work with American university students
● Knowledge of and experience with the US higher education system
● A high level of proficiency in computer software, particularly Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms, Slides, and Sites)
● Strong time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required
Preferred Qualifications:
● Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, International Education, or a related field
● Previous work experience in the Education Abroad field
● Knowledge and general proficiency in Terra Dotta and WordPress
Work Conditions (Travel, On-call, etc.):
● Ability to travel to other regions of Czechia, Europe and Raleigh
● Flexibility in terms of working hours. Weekend and evening work is sometimes required.
● Must be able to lawfully accept employment in Czechia at the time that an offer of employment is extended.
