C. H. Beck is an international media company focused on professional information for the legal public. In the Czech Republic and Slovakia, it offers a wide portfolio of products, where the main role is played by an online legal information system, an extensive range of professional literature and professional seminars and conferences on current topics from various areas of law. This year, it will launch the European legal AI Beck-Noxtua on the Czech and Slovak markets. Last year, C. H. Beck strengthened its market position by acquiring Seminaria, a leading player in the field of professional education.

In connection with the further development of the company and the growing complexity of our financial processes, we are looking for an experienced controller who will take on a key role in managing financial planning, reporting, and supporting managerial decision-making.

The Controller will manage all Controlling and FP&A activities across the two countries (CZ+SK), including:

Month-end closing reporting and analysis
Forecasting and Budget processes
You will leverage accounting data produced by local accounting teams and work with ABRA ERP

Key Responsibilities

Provide accurate financial visibility to business leaders
Month-End Closing: Prepare standardized closing packages for Turnover, EBITDA, Headcount, and Opex.
Perform profitability analysis by profit centers.
Communicate results to management teams and escalate issues when necessary.
Forecasting & Budget: Lead and coordinate forecast processes with individual teams.
Produce forecasts for Headcount, P&L, Balance Sheet, and Free Cash Flow using group reporting tools.
Deliver ad-hoc financial analysis to support management decisions and business initiatives
Contribute to action plans to optimize EBITDA and identify risks/opportunities.
Drive improvements in reporting packages and support automation projects using BI tools.

Candidate Profile / Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong controlling expertise combined with a proactive, business-partner mindset.

University degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in Controlling / FP&A, preferably in an international or multi-entity environment
Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
Solid understanding of P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow
Experience working with ERP systems (experience with ABRA is an advantage) and advanced Excel skills
Analytical thinking with the ability to translate data into clear insights and recommendations
Strong communication skills and confidence in working with senior management
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines
Native Czech speaker, fluent English required
