Position Summary:

We are looking for a VAT Analyst to join our team, reporting directly to the Group Indirect Tax Manager. This role will provide essential support in ensuring VAT and indirect tax compliance across the Group’s international operations.

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

• Prepare and ensure timely submission of indirect tax compliance obligations, including VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat declarations, and other ad hoc reporting for both EU and non-EU entities
• Reconcile VAT general ledger accounts to support accurate tax reporting
• Assist the Group Indirect Tax Manager in maintaining overall VAT compliance across the group
• Maintain and improve indirect tax processes and documentation to support efficient compliance
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external professional advisers on indirect tax matters as required
• Monitor VAT payments, refunds, and claims for foreign VAT recovery
• Assist in responding to tax authority queries and support finance teams during VAT audits
• Support continuous process improvement initiatives by ensuring adherence to good housekeeping policies
• Proactively identify and escalate issues, ensuring timely resolution and preventive measures are implemented
• Support sales tax compliance for the US and other international geographies as required
• Occasionally work outside standard business hours to support requirements in geographies of a different time zone

Qualifications:

• Relevant accounting, finance, or tax qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA) with at least 12 months’ indirect tax compliance experience
• Basic knowledge of European VAT and indirect tax
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office with strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills, fluent in English; other European languages are a plus
• Able to work independently and collaboratively, managing time effectively to meet deadlines
• Eager to learn, proactive, and positive in approach
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., S4/HANA SAP) is desirable but not essential
• Basic knowledge or experience of US Sales and Use Tax desirable but not essential

While prior indirect tax experience is important, this role is ideal for someone who is keen to learn, take initiative, and contribute proactively. You should be comfortable working under the pressure of statutory deadlines and able to manage your time effectively.
