We are seeking a Data Engineer to join the Linguistic AI Services (LAIS) team. This role is critical in supporting the development and deployment of AI-driven linguistic solutions by preparing, transforming, and managing clients’ datasets for prompt engineering and model evaluation.

The Data Engineer will work closely with Prompt Engineers, linguists, and R&D teams to ensure that input data is structured, scalable, and optimized for AI workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement data pipelines to support prompt engineering and linguistic AI tasks. Prepare, clean, and transform structured and unstructured linguistic data for use in Large Language Models.
• Collaborate with Prompt Engineers to understand data requirements and optimize input formats for prompt performance.
• Develop scripts and automation tools (primarily in Python) to streamline data preparation and transformation processes.
• Maintain and manage datasets across multiple languages and domains, ensuring consistency, quality, and traceability.
• Work with the LAIS R&D team to integrate data workflows with AI model training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Monitor data quality and implement validation checks to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Support experimentation by providing tailored datasets and logging mechanisms for prompt evaluation.
• Contribute to the development of internal data standards, documentation, and best practi ces. Stay informed about advancements in data engineering, NLP data formats, and linguistic data processing techniques.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
• Experience in data engineering, preferably in NLP or AI-related projects.
• Strong proficiency in Python and scripting for data manipulation and automation.
• Familiarity with NLP concepts and linguistic data formats (e.g., TMX, XLIFF, JSON,CSV).
• Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases, including querying, joining, and managing tables.
• Understanding of prompt engineering workflows and how data impacts model performance.
• Understanding linguistic concepts and terminology, with the ability to collaborate effectively with linguists and language specialists.
• Experience with cloud-based data storage and processing platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps) and collaboration platforms (e.g., SharePoint) is a plus.
• Familiarity with the localization industry and multilingual data processing is a plus.
