Substitute Teacher

The International School of Prague is seeking new colleagues to join our team as substitute teachers, stepping in during the absence of regular teaching staff. Although the role follows an irregular schedule, with over 100 educators at our school, substitute support is needed consistently throughout the academic year.

What does the role involve?

• Supporting the lead teacher during lessons
• Supervising students during class and outdoor recess time
• Assisting students with their academic tasks
• Preparing materials and resources
• Leading classroom activities based on a provided lesson plan
• Working either full days (8:30–15:30) or partial days within that time frame
• Following the daily teaching plan and ensuring students complete assigned tasks, with the possibility of guiding them through activities depending on your experience and subject knowledge
• Assisting with lunch supervision in the school cafeteria when needed

What we’re looking for:

• Completed pedagogical education (or currently studying at a faculty of education), or relevant qualifications/knowledge in subjects commonly taught at primary or general secondary school level (including foreign languages)
• Prior experience working with children or adolescents (e.g. teaching, tutoring, au pair, childcare, camp leadership, etc.) and
  a genuine interest in working with young people
• Availability to work at least one full day per week on a regular basis
• Fluency in English
• Reliability and a proactive attitude
