Oracle Specialist

The Oracle Specialist is responsible for third-level support for the core investment life insurance management system for the LIE and CH markets. This primarily involves maintaining the application’s source code (fixing bugs, deploying new versions) and maintaining the Oracle environment.

 What are the main tasks of this role?

• Maintenance of the application's source code (especially Oracle Packages and Procedures)
• Manage and maintain Oracle Forms
• Analysis of requirements submitted in Jira (L3 user support)
• Solution design and implementation
• Installation of hotfixes and new application versions in test and production environments
• Maintenance of the Oracle environment as a whole (security updates, patches)

What should the ideal candidate have?

- Database Skills:

• Advanced knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL
• Experience in designing and optimizing database schemas
• Ability to work with large volumes of data and optimize query performance
• Knowledge of Oracle Database administration (version 19c or newer)
• Maintenance and analysis of Oracle Packages, Oracle Procedures

- Oracle Forms:

• Practical experience in developing applications with Oracle Forms (version 12.2.1.19 and newer 14.1)
• Ability to modify and maintain existing Oracle Forms applications
• Knowledge of integrating Oracle Forms with other technologies and systems

- General Programming Skills:

• Knowledge of programming languages such as Java
• Experience with Java JDK (java-1.8.0)
• Experience with version control systems like Subversion
• Unix Script Management and Maintenance
• Experience with shell (Korn shell) scripting
• Ability to analyse, modify, and optimize existing scripts
• Knowledge of task and process automation using shell scripts
• Ability to write clean, documented, and maintainable code

- Analytical and Communication Skills:

• Communication through the ticketing system Jira
• Good communication skills for collaboration with the team and users
• Ability to solve problems (L3 support) and propose innovative solutions
• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required
• Knowledge of the German language is a significant advantage

- Certification:

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in databases or applications is advantageous
