Junior Application Administrator (News Production)

We are looking for Junior Application Administrator to join our team responsible for RFE/RL news production systems. The job holder participates in day-to-day activities relating to newsroom computer and multimedia production systems and related technologies and processes. Performs, under guidance when needed, a variety of tasks associated with the installation and administration of servers and news gathering-related applications.

Job responsibilities:

• Contributes to providing, monitoring, and maintaining systems in support of newsroom and multimedia production processes in RFE/RL broadcasting headquarters, bureaus, and field operations, ensuring their proper operation.
• Supports successful implementation and maintenance of the defined policies and procedures.
• Is involved in contributing to business continuity plans and updating them periodically.
• Aids in administering system and application security, including creating customer profiles and accounts.
• Assists with end-user training and support issues when required, providing 2nd and 3rd level support.
• Liaises with peers, technical and non-technical groups.
• Tracks issues and resolutions and well as change requests related to newsroom systems.
• Participates in maintaining systems documentation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education:

• Secondary technical.

Experience:

• At least some experience in the relevant technical discipline.

Competencies:

• Technical knowledge and skills relevant to server, desktop and laptop software and hardware.
• Knowledge of Microsoft server technologies and data security.
• Maintenance and updates of computer systems.
• Customer service skills.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and a strong desire to learn and grow.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to think analytically and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Initiative and motivation to achieve specific goals.
• Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, vendors, and external partners.

Languages:

• English language (Working Knowledge Oral & Written)
• Czech language
• Other RFE/RL language welcome.

This is a locally recruited full-time position on a one-year assignment initially, with the possibility of extension for an open-ended contract after one year. The opportunity is only open to applicants with the legal right to work in the Czech Republic.
