SENIOR EDITOR, full time

A prosperous ICT market intelligence, consulting, and events firm seeks an experienced in-house senior editor of English. The position is full time (8 hours per day, 5 days per week, a mix of remote and onsite). As a senior editor, you will be part of a publishing team based in the center of Prague and will report to the publishing director for the region of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • To edit highly technical ICT research reports and presentations for grammar, style, and logic of content
  • To edit other texts as required (e.g., ICT marketing and sales texts)
  • To provide feedback to report writers on their writing skills
  • To present interactive writing skills training to analysts
  • To implement IDC style (based on a 250-page style guide)
  • To ensure document-type and content style conformity (structure, layout, formatting, fonts, charts and tables, etc.)

Please note: Editing for IDC CEMA involves rewriting and restructuring highly technical report texts written by non-native speakers from across Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. The editing and rewriting can be very demanding. Extensive editing experience and excellent communication skills are therefore essential. Your written English must be of an extremely high standard. A background in ICT is also highly desirable. Every suitable applicant is to sit a rigorous one-hour editing test as a part of the recruitment process, prior to interviewing.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in editing English texts — a minimum of three years’ experience as a full-time editor
  • A native English speaker — preferably, with permanent residency in the Czech Republic or an EU passport
  • Impeccable written English
  • Meticulous to a fault
  • An ability to restructure/rewrite complex and highly technical passages
  • A sound knowledge of ICT
  • An excellent work ethic and an ability to work independently
  • Proficient in MS Word and PowerPoint + basic Excel and database skills
  • An ability to work to tight deadlines and to perform consistently well under pressure
  • An ability to manage numerous projects at once
  • An ability to work flexibly and as a team member
  • A university degree or equivalent
