Area Manager

We are looking for an Area Manager for the Central Europe Region, supporting the development of the Scientific Channel, a Division of Kimberly-Clark Professional (KCP).

The Scientific Channel (brand Kimtech) is focused to help our customers building a better protection of their production environments, processes, products and people to achieve their biocontamination control strategy.

The Area Manager will be responsible for Central Europe and will deliver the financial growth and profitability targets assigned to the territory through a network of specialized distributors. Furthermore, the Area Manager will be in charge of developing opportunities with a portfolio of key end user accounts, gaining and growing market share through distributors in our focused strategic segments (Pharmaceutical Industry, Research and Semiconductors).

The role reports to the European District Manager.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop, plan and implement sales strategies within the territory collaborating with the Inside Sales Team, the
  • European Distributor Account Manager, Category Managers and Marketing.
  • Be accountable for the delivery of the annual sales and profitability objectives (end user accounts and distributors).
  • Build, maintain and develop a relevant opportunity Pipeline of projects with end user customers to acquire and expand through distribution as per KCP Scientific Channel Global strategy.
  • Establish and maintain strong business relationships with an assigned portfolio of distributors and develop a business plan for each of them. Execute European agreements with key distribution groups.
  • Understand and influence the environment in which the distributors and end users operate (market segments, structures, organisations, etc…).
  • Ensure that all customer requirements are swiftly communicated and acted upon.
  • Train and support distributor sales force (including training on the job).
  • Work in close cooperation with the entire Scientific Channel Team to deliver end users and channel plans and priorities.
  • Operate internally in their territory with KCP teams as the “specialist” of the Scientific Channel business.
  • Use and continue to develop technical expertise related to products and industry in order to facilitate customer behavior change.
  • Creates awareness and demand for company products through market insights and customer process knowledge


Job requirements:

  • Graduate or equivalent desirable.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Minimum 3 years of Technical Sales and account management experience in negotiating and dealing with large end users and distribution groups.
  • Understanding of manufacturing in controlled environments.
  • A former sales experience in Technical or “Regulatory driven” markets with a manufacturer or distributor and an understanding of the human and animal medicine production environment is a plus.
  • Demonstration of strong commercial awareness and judgment negotiation skills and complex problem solving within a multi-interlocutor and technical sales process.
  • Business Planning skills, including profitability scenario analysis and setting sales strategy.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Good communication skills to build and develop the customer relationship with large national or international end users and distribution groups.
  • CRM system knowledge - Sales: Salesforce.com and pipeline; Management: Office suite competency
  • Team work and influencing attitude.
