Advanced Quality Planning Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Actively engage in APQ activities from gate 1 through gate 3;

- Provide prototype-manufacturing support by developing inspection and visual standards, analyzing and evaluating process capability, process control plans, out-of-control conditions, and process audits;

- Quality support for new program launch (gates 3-6) through collaboration with Program Management, manufacturing facilities across North America, and Henniges Customers;

- Ensure that the receiving plant functions have developed all appropriate process documentation. The documentation may include documents such as Prototype Control Plan, DFMEA/PFMEA (as appropriate) Customer Specific Requirements, PPAP requirements, customer specifications, engineering requirements, gauging plans, MSA’s and other appropriate APQP documentation;

- Support problem solving during all product realization phases - root cause analysis, developing corrective actions, inspections, SPC. Review quality trends, track root cause of problems and coordinates correction actions with both internal and external customers;

- Audit to ensure the quality of deliverables meet all Henniges and Customer Specific requirements are met;

- Provide mentoring support to Quality Engineers in the manufacturing sites within the growth regions to ensure that the individuals are advancing in Quality skill sets;

- Lead the development and completion of supplier component risk assessments that categorizes supplier component procurement risks. Coach the plant quality teams to complete the Supplier APQP tasks and Supplier PPAP’s. Facilitate the internal quality improvement process and team interaction;

- Tracks QA improvements made and able to communicate through metrics;

- Ability to bring up new ideas that lead to process improvement, etc.

- Continual personal development (i.e. attain CQE certification)



- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical equivalent experience;

- A minimum of three years of experience as a Quality Engineer;

- Five or more years in manufacturing - Automotive preferred;

- Strong experience with quality systems, root cause analysis, vendor related quality, in-process and final inspection;

- Solid understanding of variation and core quality tools - SPC, MSA, Process Capability;

- Requires strong analytical problem solving and decision-making skills;

- Strong MS Office skills;

- Good project management and follow-up skills;

- Drive and ambition and hands-on approach;

- 20 – 50 % domestic and international travel;

- Dimensional Control and GD&T


- ASQ Certification: CQE, CQT

- Six Sigma (Greenbelt or Blackbelt)

- Strong Minitab skills

- ISO/TS 16949 Auditor

- A background in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs helpful
