Payroll Specialist

Job Description:
As Payroll Specialist you are responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day services are delivered according to both in house and contractual requirements in terms of timeliness, quality and in line with the agreed service levels (SLAs). You will be also responsible for direct payroll provider escalation and advising the Payroll leadership team concerning potential risks relating to payroll while ensuring fluid end-to-end processes between on site, in country, cross business, vendor and leadership representatives and responsibilities.

The Payroll Specialist is reporting to the Payroll Lead.

Main Responsibilities:

Maintain the payroll systems (wages categories and taxation etc.)
Enter in personnel data for new employees and update current data where necessary
Compile monthly variables, calculate earnings from timesheets, production records or individual time records, including overtime or shift payments
Process attachments of salary completely
Make salary deductions where instructed due to local taxation (e.g. company car, fringe benefits etc.)
Prepare regularly scheduled reports for governmental and other external agencies regarding company payment of various taxes, group insurance premiums, union dues, etc. Calculate vacation and sick pay
Make pension scheme deductions to salary in accordance with national and company regulations

Ongoing Activities:

Group the employees into wage tax grades and social security grades and maintain contact with the corresponding contacts at the authorities and social insurance agencies
Register and deregister employees at the health insurance companies, declare short-time employees
Cooperate with the local employment office (child benefits, employment aid)
Monitor changes in employee status (entries, exits, fixed-term contracts, internal department changes)
Calculate net/gross wages which form the basis of contractual negotiations and are used in balance sheets by Comp. & Ben.
Involved in the day-to-day processing operation to ensure local service delivery happens as agreed
Manages the relationship between the department, the business and the outsourcing partner
Determining own work priorities in accordance with the workload, deadlines and change requests
Monitors outsourced partner’s service delivery and ensures SLAs are met
Monitors service ‘gaps’ and areas of concern and improves services together with the local team and the Payroll Country Lead
Supports the payroll related payment process (salaries, taxes, pension funds, social contribution, etc.)
Provides payroll and reporting support and various administrative services required by the Labour Legislation
Submits timely and accurate financial information to BBC (Bratislava Business Centre) payroll accounting team

Job Qualifications:

Excellent knowledge of payroll and associated taxes and statutory filings
Knowledge of Czech payroll system
Strong/advanced English skills – both oral and written
Excellent research and problem solving skills
Ability to investigate end-to-end impacts of payroll dependencies and processing in order to make clear decisions on risks
Proficiency with Excel preferred
Ability to independently resolve variances and potential disputes between JCI and outside parties including regulatory institutions and providers
Ability to plan, organize and schedule work flow in a short time frame
Strong analytical and system experience
Ability to calculate changes to pay rates based on time off, overtime, etc.
Ability to gather data from multiple sources
